Community notice board, skills exchange

This idea was suggested during the Co-creating Open Streets Event. What do YOU think of it?

A community notice board sounds actually quite cool! I guess that supermarkets often offer some sort of community notice board, but just the fact that a board like that is hidden away in a supermarket makes it less accessible.

I would LOVE for a public notice board to be set up somewhere along Main Road in Claremont (where I live), which would allow for people to post messages. I would personally use it for practical things ("I am selling a couch", and "I am looking for a buddy to bike to town on Mondays"), and I can imagine it would serve many others in the community as well.

The question is: how to make sure this is not vandalised? I imagine that this is quite a big risk...

Wondering what others think...

One thought on vandalism: perhaps some businesses could be convinced to have notice boards inside their premises. But it depends who the target audience is, since some people will feel excluded. Worth speaking with Cape Town Partnership about what they have learned from people who live/work on the streets.
